what do you know about cicadas?
these suspicious insects live underground for 17 years then they show themselves. cicadas perform into their adult body as soon as they are above land. Sitback and be prepared for the journey about cicadas.

Mating call
After the male cicadas finish performing into their adult body they begin to search for their ladies. The females make a clicking sound that so easily attracts male cicadas that a cicada would follow a human click anywhere. Thats how male cicadas find there ladies.
Different Species
There are 42 different species. But not all types live underground for 17 years some species live underground for 3 to 5 years. Some are not yet discovered.

Predators
The cicadas main predators in New Zealand are tiny wasps that infest their eggs. Predatory beetles attack nymphs and their enemies are fungal diseases. Adult cicadas also may be taken by birds or caught in spider webs.

So now you know more about cicadas so next time you see a cicada don’t scream and freak out just remember they are no harm.
